Mamaw is a series of works that explore themes of grief and memory through colored pencil and collage illustrations. Following my grandmother’s passing in April 2021, I inherited several of the plants she lovingly cared for, including Begonia lucerna and Syngonium podophyllum. These pieces celebrate the organic beauty of those plants while underscoring their personal significance in my life. Set against bold, vibrant backgrounds, each panel draws attention to the delicate forms and emotional weight embedded in the drawings.
